First new engine in 35-year history of Porsche Turbo 911
Porsche’s flagship, the 911 Turbo, will feature the first entirely new engine when the 2010 coupes and cabriolets are unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
The 3.8-liter flat-six boxer engine generates 500 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. That’s an increase of 20 horsepower, 15 pound-feet and .2 liters of displacement over the previous flat-six powerplant.
Equipped with the optional seven-speed, dual-clutch, auto/manual transmission, the new Porsche 911 Turbo can rocket from a stop to 60 miles an hour in 3.2 seconds.
